October 12, 2025 / Dr. John P. Marr1. Sin is in Nature
Romans 3:10-12 “As it is written: ‘There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.'”
Sin
Psalms 14:1-3 CSB
1 The fool says in his heart, “There’s no God.” They are corrupt; they do vile deeds. There is no one who does good. 2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the human race to see if there is one who is wise, one who seeks God. 3 All have turned away; all alike have become corrupt. There is no one who does good, not even one.
Romans 5:12
“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned,”
Romans 5:17-18 CSB
17 If by the one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive the overflow of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. 18 So then, as through one trespass there is condemnation for everyone, so also through one righteous act there is justification leading to life for everyone.

Ephesians 2:1-5 CSB – 1 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins 2 in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the disobedient. 3 We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, 5 made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. What is ORIGINAL SIN
The idea behind the Christian doctrine of “original sin” is that all of humanity inherited a fallen and sinful nature from Adam and Eve’s first act of disobedience in the Garden of Eden. This concept attempts to answer the fundamental questions of why humans are prone to sin and why suffering, death, and evil exist in the world.
