Why does God let bad things happen to good people and children?

I was given an epilepsy disorder starting at age 11, and I’m wondering if I’m being punished by God.
Why don’t we consider that the “missing books” are apart of the Bible?
Did King James force/threaten/kill people to rewrite/change things in the Bible?
Can you lose salvation if you denounce your faith?
