Freedom from the Law
Galatians 2:11-21
1. Paul Peter (11-13)
11 But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face because he stood condemned.
Galatians 2:5 NLT – 5 But we refused to give in to them for a single moment. We wanted to preserve the truth of the gospel message for you.
12 For he regularly ate with the Gentiles before certain men came from James. However, when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, because he feared those from the circumcision party.
Acts 10:28 – Peter told them, “You know it is against our laws for a Jewish man to enter a Gentile home like this or to associate with you. But God has shown me that I should no longer think of anyone as impure or unclean.
13 Then the rest of the Jews joined his hypocrisy so that even Barnabas was led astray by their hypocrisy.
Ephesians 4:14 – Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever that they sound like the truth.

2. Paul. Peters Hypocrisy (14)
14 But when I saw that they were deviating from the truth of the gospel, I told Cephas in front of everyone, “If you, who are a Jew, live like a Gentile and not like a Jew, how can you compel Gentiles to live like Jews? ”
Proverbs 27:5-6 – Better an open reprimand than concealed love. 6 The wounds of a friend are trustworthy, but the kisses of an enemy are excessive.

by Jesus (15-16)
15 We are Jews by birth and not “Gentile sinners,” 16 and yet because we know that a person is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we ourselves have believed in Christ Jesus. This was so that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no human being will be justified.
Romans 3:28 – For we conclude that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.

3. Made Through Christ, not the of the Law (17-18)
17 But if we ourselves are also found to be “sinners” while seeking to be justified by Christ, is Christ then a promoter of sin? Absolutely not!
Romans 6:15 – What then? Should we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? Absolutely not!
18 If I rebuild those things that I tore down, I show myself to be a lawbreaker.
Romans 3:20 – For no one will be justified in his sight by the works of the law, because the knowledge of sin comes through the law.

4. Paul’s with the LAW has changed (19-20)
19 For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live for God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
James 2:10 – For whoever keeps the entire law, and yet stumbles at one point, is guilty of breaking it all.
Romans 6:4 – Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.

5. The Relationship Between and (21)
21 I do not set aside God’s grace, for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died for nothing.
Romans 11:6 – Now if by grace, then it is not by works; otherwise grace ceases to be grace.

The Law is a schoolmaster that shows us our sins. However, it does not provide a solution for the sin.
Grace provides a solution through Christ, and Christ has dealt with our sins once and for all.
